A dystopian dream

I remember that in the old version of my blog (some of them are converted to the draft now), I also had some posts about the very detailed dreams I had. Last night I also had a very detailed fictional dream and since I still remember most of the details I'd like to write it in the form of a story (ALL BASED ON A DREAM):

Here we were in the square of a medieval Italian looking city on a hill. The balconies of the houses all seem to have a blue banner with a symbol on them. Half of the houses look mostly destroyed, some of them are still standing with some fractures on the facades. Initially I think the whole city looks abandoned but as we walk past the houses, I see some terrorized eyes of adults and their children creeping out of windows to check us. I'm with a broker, a teenage boy and his younger sister who looks around 8 years old. I don't remember how I met them. I only remember that I was walking for days in the countryside after the bombing raid to my city, just before everything turned into dust and ashes. Everything in my head is hazy. It looks like I have forgotten everything to escape the pain through madness. I don't know where I came from, I don't know how this war started.  I only know that it is all around the world and I found this brother and sister who looked as lost as me and I just feel that I have nothing else to do than protect them and look after them.

We approach a building with a fading green colour and proceed to the second floor. Then we stop in front of an apartment, the broker says   "there are many houses abandoned but I assure you that this is the best for your budget. I only want the commissions to guide you to the area, the house is empty and all yours", meanwhile he takes out a nanocolor tube!? from his pocket and opens the lid and fits the opening of the tube to the lock and we hear an immediate click sound. He says "amazing, isn't it, the hydrogen gas release is the best to force open these locks'??!! I can sell some of them to you because you might have some problems to keep the door closed without a key in other times". I say "thank you, we will find another way after we settle into the house. Maybe we can find a spare key hidden inside". Deep inside my head I think maybe I should buy a couple of tubes in case if we lock ourselves outside but I decide not to at the end.

We enter the apartment. It is a small one, maybe a little bigger than a studio. I see the small kitchen with a table which can allocate two and the broker shows us the rooms, well the room. There is a room with two futon beds on the floor, the blankets are deranged like someone just left the bed. Then there is a curtain in the middle of the room and behind the curtain there is another futon bed which looks like a double bed. I think maybe the house belonged to a family with two children. The teenage guy says "you paid so much to this fucking broker and he brings us to house which doesnt even have proper beds!". The broker laughs in mischief and says "well if you think you can find better beds in the street, you are welcome to go" while he caresses his goat beard (Now that I remember, he looked exactly like Little Finger, lol). "I would get rid of these kids, miss. In these times, they would bring you nothing more than trouble." I  say "the kids will stay with me, they have no one else but me." Well, I have no one else but them as well... I think. I tell the kids to settle into the first part of the room with two futon beds. They don't seem to have many things to unpack anyway. Now, I am left alone with the broker in the narrow corridor. I ask him "how the things work in this city, is there still a sort of economy? I and the kids don't have much money left. We have a shelter now, but we need to find food and sustain our lives from now on". He says "it is not as bad as it looks from outside. The life in this city more or less goes on still after the raids. Compared to the other places, most of the buildings for the offices or the industry are still mostly unharmed. They at least try to keep essential jobs running." I say "I can work in a lab! I know some chemistry and basic microbiology in applied science. For instance I worked with these nanocolor tubes you used for opening that door!" suddenly remembering some details about my past life. "Is there any sort of jobs like that?". "There can be, there can be... I will ask around and let you know. Of course the knowledge comes with a cost." he says. Why am I not suprised at all?

At the end, the broker leaves and says "we will be in touch, miss!".  I call the kids and we search the house for food and other inventories. It appears that owners of the house left just with their personal belongings. All other things with bathroom and cleaning supplies are still present in the house. To our luck, we find quite some food. Most of them are canned food and legumes but that is more than enough for our starving tummies. We prepare a meal with rice and canned beans. The little girl seems to be the most happy one after she finds an unopened jar of peanut butter. After we fill our stomachs, I explain the plan I was forming in my mind for a while: Since there are still many people in the building we are living,  in case the neighbours question, we will pretend like we are the relatives of the house owners. We will search all around the house and find their official documents with their names and other information to strengthen our claim. I will try to find a job with the help of the broker and bring necessary food to the house. Then the teenage boy exclaims "I can also work! I am strong enough and it is my duty to care for my sister." I say "I bet you can, we should search for jobs for both". I look at the the little girl in confusion and tell her that "don't worry, we won't try to leave you alone in the house all the time. you will need to get home schooled by us though." She just nods, I realize that the poor girl didn't even speak a single word since we came across. Later, we all realize how exhausted we are. We directly go to our futon beds and fall into deep slumber.

After this dream goes a bit wild, I find myself in a reality show which ends up as a job interview. I still think that I am looking for this job for looking after myself and those kids in the same universe but everything is so weird. I am in a stage and hundreds of people are looking at me while I present what I did during my PhD and what kind of jobs I can perform well. The people who are watching me are dressed like a dystopian future fashion like in the Hunger Games, lol. Then I just woke up in the pijamas I didn't remember even wearing them.

Thanks for reading until now!
